A couple of years ago my dear friend Emily Howard Belcher challenged me to walk with her in the Charlotte area Out of the Darkness walk. I came to learn the memorial wall is a standing reminder at these events around the country and world. Each walks memorial wall is in memorial of those locally who hurt so badly they chose suicide as their method of pain relief. I was saddened by the posted memorials of the moms and dads, the husbands and wives and the grandparents. What ripped my heart out and openly brought me to tears are the memorials of the youngsters. Some as young as 13 years old. Those who are condemning the selfishness of those who have taken their lives need to step back ad ask how could we as a society make life so bad a 13 year old feels suicide is their only relief. We are all guilty. Bullying has to stop. Acceptance has to start, immediately. If you think its a sin remember the same book you are beating us with says very clearly...love the sinner, not the sin. Also remember very clearly written in red is the greatest of these is love.
