A couple of years ago my family and I were enjoying a nice day at the Jersey shore. I was playing with the kids, and making the usual sand shacks (they werent castles). At one point as I stared into the horizon I noticed a fin. Then multiple fins. Now mind you the beach was packed. There were people everywhere. My kids were in the water at that time and I quickly yanked them out. You see the fins werent too far from where people were swimming. So I did what every normal person would do? Anyone concerned for the safety of others. I began to yell sharks!! Thankfully there was a bystander who informed me that they were not sharks but rather Dolphins instead. Obviously I felt like an idiot. How could I not see the difference? Well on my defense I guess I dont go out much. Nevertheless for the next several minutes we were able to enjoy a beautiful dolphin show. I know this story can prove how dumb I can be sometimes but I dont want you to miss this point: How many people have you warned about their eternal destination? How many people have you shared Gods love with today, this week, last month, last year, since you started claiming association with Christ? Think about it. If youre anything like me, then you havent said much. If youre anything like me, fear keeps you from opening your mouth. The possibility of looking like an idiot. Worrying of what people may say about you when youre yelling shark. Now dont get me wrong, Im not trying or asking you to simply condemn people to hell with a bullhorn while you are wearing a billboard saying so. Im simply asking you to look around, the people that you know, your neighbors, your coworkers, your family. Have you made any attempts, any attempts, to share with them the gospel. Is there any evidence that could be used against you to convict you of being a Christian? Would people know what you believe in? Luke 9:26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Friends, family, I confess to you that Im often afraid to confess whom I have believed in. Lets pray for one another that we may boldly proclaim salvation through Jesus to ALL. I DO NOT want Jesus to be ashamed of me and I warn you so you too will strive to live a life worthy of the sacrifice that took place on the cross. In Jesus mighty name, amen.
