A couple thoughts on the new national conversation about racism. 1. The widespread accusation that most white white people are racist and dont even know it, is not helpful. Whats happening is that a large number of people are being accused of having ignorant or evil intentions Even though their actions speak otherwise. How can we judge an entire group of peoples private and subconscious intentions? Absurd. 2. There is a quantifiable racism and it lies in policies that govern inner cities. These policies include poor educational systems, economic systems that discourage jobs, transportation systems that try to curb foot traffic between bad and good neighborhoods, a leadership structure that benefits from keeping a group of people oppressed so that you can make speeches about them and receive grant money on their behalf, and social programs that result in nearly 3/4 of babies be killed in the womb. 3. To blame cops for these problems is like blaming the kicker for a touchdown on a kickoff return. Nothing will change for the inner city if our response to tragedy is navel gazing and trying to figure out if I am racist and didnt even know it even though I see a person first and color or culture or background later.
