A curious thought for today, but a relevant one - those of us who have suffered from Schwannoma are suffering from something that has an unknown cause, at least on the cellular level. It seems every article that appears to be reputable on the subject says that doctors are in the dark about what causes these things. What we do know is that certain genetic markers may indicated Schwannomatosis - but is it known exactly how that gene triggers the condition and growth of multiple schwannomas? And there is a reference in the article Ill link to here about some neurofibrocarcinomas being due to a possible radiation exposure. I would love to know if researchers have learned more about what triggers the actual schwann cells to grow in an abnormal manner - and if anyone here has gotten information from their physician that might indicate where future lines of research into causes of Schwannomas lie - Id love to hear from them. Im not satisfied with We dont know... because too many lives are traumatized by these tumors. - Neil
