A cyclonic storm is brewing in the Bay of Bengal and is expected to hit the Odisha coast by October 12, Met officials said. The cyclone is likely to be named Hudhud, after an Afro-Eurasian bird, by Oman, whose turn it is to name the next cyclone. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone appeared on Monday as a low pressure over the south Myanmar coast and adjoining Andaman Sea, and is likely to be concentrated into a depression on October 7 before intensifying into a cyclone on October 8.
