A day in the life of a Winter Vac Student Katies Final - TopicsExpress

A day in the life of a Winter Vac Student Katies Final Thoughts They say time flies when youre having fun; my ten days at Allen & Overy seemed to disappear in a flash, which I think is testament to the brilliant time I had there. Having had a week or two to reflect on the Winter Vacation Scheme, I really appreciate what a fantastic experience it was. During my brief time at the firm I learnt an enormous amount; I leant more about the legal profession as a whole, I gained a deeper understanding as to exactly about A&O is all about, and I also discovered new things about myself. I have always been attracted to Allen & Overy for the obvious reasons (reputation, calibre of clients, quality of training etc etc!), but given the size and strength of this magic circle firm, one of the most refreshing insights I gained was how down to earth everybody I met was. It was not until I spent time in the office that I could appreciate how true A&Os open door policy is! People were in and out of my trainers room all day, and the collaborative nature not only within members of the Corporate Department, but across the London and international offices, was overwhelmingly obvious. I urge anyone considering a career as a commercial solicitor to apply for a vacation scheme at Allen & Overy. Its a chance for the firm to get to know you properly, but also an opportunity for you to truly understand the organisation. I got a real taste for what life is like as an Allen & Overy trainee. The hard work during the scheme paid off, and I am fortunate enough to have been offered a training contract (a great early Christmas present!), so I will spending much more time in One Bishops Square in the near future!
