A day of Judgement. Read Matthew 24:38-39 As Jesus sought for a way to explain his return, he referred to the parallels found in the flood of Noah. A message of judgement was proclaimed then. It is proclaimed still. People didnt listen in Noahs day. They refuse to listen today. Noah was sent to save the faithful. Christ was sent to do the same. A flood of water came then. A flood of fire will come next. Noah made a safe place out of wood by building the Ark. Jesus made a safe place for us with his sacrifice on a wooden cross. Those who believe found refuge in the ark. Those who believe find refuge in Christ. What God did in Noahs day, he will do at Christs return. He will pronounce a universal , irreversible judgement. A judgement in which grace is revealed, rewards are given and made public, and the impenitent are punished. And in that order. First, Gods grace will be revealed. Our host will receive all the credit and attention. Second, rewards for his servants will be unveiled. Those who accepted his invitation will be uniquely honored. And third, those who do not know him will pay a price. A severe, terrible price. Only Noah, his family, and the animals on the ark escaped. Everyone else perished. God close the door of the ark. The opportunity for salvation was over. According to Jesus: It will be the same when the Son of Man comes ( Matt. 24:39) For the unprepared judgement will cause panic. But for the follower of Jesus, the hour is not to be dreaded. Once we understand it, we can look forward to it. In our next post we will try to understand it by considering some fundamental questions. Who will be judge? What will be judge? Why will Christians be judge? And what is the destiny of those who dont know Christ. God bless.
