A dear friend from Indianapolis who lived her dream of caring for children died recently. Her obituary is inspiring: Mary June Willey, age 89, died Tuesday, October 22, in Zionsville. She was the widow of Carroll Dean Willey Mary Was born February 11, 1924 in Crothersville, IN to Dorothy (Hughes) and Floyd Baringer. She graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis in 1942. She and Carroll were married February 16, 1947. Mary is survived by four children; Kathy Jensen (Ken); Barry (Barbara); Ed (Jean); Kyle Wiley (Larry); fourteen grandchildren; one step-grandchild; twenty great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren. Mary and Carroll were founders and charter members of Westlane Christian Church, Indianapolis, 1969. They were also founders and charter members of New Hope Christian Church, Whitestown, 1972. They also started and operated Rainbow Valley Childrens Christian Home in 1971 from a dream conceived by Mary. Rainbow Valley housed and provided for over 300 foster children until 2001. Mary has been recognized by the Indiana Foster Care Association for her outstanding service. The Willeys are also memorialized for their work with children in a family park dedicated to them, Willey Park, located in Anson, IN near the home they owned. During her widowed years since 2007, Mary has been lovingly cared for by the staff at Zionsville Meadows. Mary was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and many dear friends. May she rest in peace from all her labors. Visitation will be Friday October 25 from 4-8pm with Service Saturday October 26, 2013 beginning at 11:00am located at New Hope Christian Church (5780 S 650 E – Whitestown) Memorial Contributions in honor of Mary may be made to New Hope Christian Church.
