A dear, sweet 75 year old neighbor of mine somewhat recently lost - TopicsExpress

A dear, sweet 75 year old neighbor of mine somewhat recently lost her miniature poodle, Joey. She lives alone and really missed the little fellow. After a couple of months, she went to an Orlando shelter to adopt a homeless dog. They told her, point blank, that she did not qualify to adopt a dog as she was too old. HUH!!!!!????? Isnt that age discrimination? She told them that she had a daughter who would take the dog should she not be able to keep it due to illness, etc. - yet it was still a no go. Tho - the daughter was told she could adopt a dog. (and let her mother have her/him) This has really upset me. With all the homeless death row dogs looking for forever homes wouldnt you think a homeowner, well experienced with dogs, who lives on 5 acres would be considered a perfect adopter? Ive often thought Id like to set up a shelter/rescue for older dogs - and call the organization: Seniors for Seniors - to specifically have older dogs placed with older parent(s). I do think there is a definite need for it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
