A decade have gone (Dec 26, 2004-Dec 26, 2014). Ive visited Banda Aceh several times on a personal capacity since covering the Tsunami tragedy and also the peace accord between GAM and the Republic of Indonesia as a journalist. The visits were humbling, changed me in many ways. That Ive to thank my editors, the late Mr Ali Mamat & Mr Fisol for the opportunity and trust given to a junior reporter back then. Ive visited Aceh on the first, fifth and eighth commemoration of the Tsunami but Ill miss today, the tenth. Apart from witnessing progressive changes in Aceh, the biggest treasure Ive found in the province is the brothers Ive kept in touch with ever since; Abi Nazhari, a former GAM fighter and Jhaebar Abdullah, from the Indonesian military. That, no money can buy, Alhamdulillah! May Allah bless the souls of those departed in one of the worst disaster in living memory, ameen!
