A delusional mother and dysfunctional family. August: Osage County is a story about a family that crumble before your eyes. Watching this movie making you feel better about your life. Despite many criticisms on Meryl Streep performance in this film, I feel that she actually done a wonderful job portraying the lunatic mother of three. What makes this film so controversial, perhaps, America is not ready to face the idea that our country has such dysfunctional and proportionate dynamic family. Julia Roberts stands out and hold her own in this film even putting along side with the legendary Meryl Streep. The story about family and ordinary life crumbling down is being told so truthfully by the writer, Tracy Letts, which one should give this movie a chance before judging it based on the preconceived notion that August: Osage County is garbage. Quite the contrary, this film brings out the worse in people and the best acting from all line-up stars that I have seen in a very long time.
