A different kind of Japanese Train (Nihon no densha). So how - TopicsExpress

A different kind of Japanese Train (Nihon no densha). So how does this work???? First lets understand the construction. He takes a battery and puts a stack of magnets at each end to create the train. The N-S poles of the magnets must be oriented the same way, otherwise the train wont move. He then makes the track by coiling up some bare copper wire (it can be any metal). So, from Physics, we know that you will generate a magnetic field around a metal wire if you pass a current through it. And that is what the battery does. This current is conveyed from the battery to the wire track by way of the magnets. So the electrical current in the coiled wire sets up a magnetic field within the inner part of the coiled wire. the N-S orientation of that field will depend upon +/- orientation of the battery and whether the wired is coiled in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction with respect to the body of the battery. The coils magnetic field can either be in the same direction as the magnetic field magnets of the train (in which case the train does not move) or it can be in the oppose direction (in which case the train moves). https://youtube/watch?v=J9b0J29OzAU
