A different look at Robert Sirleaf’s Resignation I have seen - TopicsExpress

A different look at Robert Sirleaf’s Resignation I have seen with my two eyes the letter of resignation of Mr. Robert Sirleaf as Chairman of the National Oil Company of Liberia and as Senior Advisor to the President of Liberia. Better late than never, I must appreciate the step taken by Mr. Sirleaf. However, there are few things that should be part of the entire resignation package. In the corporate world, as Chairman of the Board of Directors, he was actively involved with the Financial and Administrative functions of the entity, not only the passage of the act by senate, which has been listed as the greatest achievement. In the western world, when a Chairman of such a major entity is resigning, there are few things that are published for public consumption about his/her time at the entity. These things include but are not limited to the following: •The overall financial position of the entity •The audit recommendations implemented and the impact of those recommendations on the overall growth of entity •The social corporate initiatives undertaken by the entity under your stewardship •Declaration of your total assets as of the point you were appointed up to the point of resignation. •The challenges and opportunities facing the entity; and possible recommendations to speed up and tackle the going concern of the entity Additionally, I will appreciate Mr. Sirleaf addressing in his resignation package the issue(s) surrounding the illegal concessions from the oil sector that were reported by Moore and Stephens. Actually, what went wrong sir????? Also, just indicate in a metric the number of contracts signed under your stewardship and the amount involve in each contract. I strongly believe that if the above issues are addressed conspicuously, it will reduce most of the negative perceptions. Besides being the Board Chairman and Senior Advisor to the President, there is a thin line between you and the President. By the President acceptance of your resignation is a good thing, but it would be a better if you were to clear the doubts and provide the above information to the Liberian people. Inasmuch you worked for the President, you also worked for the Liberia people. There is no doubt that you worked. However, prove it and let the noise stop chief. Deeds not words!!!!
