A digidal divide is something very impirtant to understand. Why? because sometimes our friends who come from unpriviliged/disadvantaged areas (like poorly educated people from l3roubia, par example--there are other examples, of course) have no idea what digital life means, and they are consequently excluded in many ways. Example. Khadija and Omar come from different economic backgrounds; Khadija is active on MySpace while the other has no idea what MySpace is because his parents cannot afford to buy him a laptop and pay internet bills. During a day, they are in school having a conversation with a bunch of classmates. The majority of classmates start laughing about something that they spoke about on MySpace. However, Omar doesnt have the bearest inkling why his friends are laughing. In this example, we see that the group of classmates is divided; we have people like Omar who are digitally unprivileged and the others who are digitally unprivileged. This division is known as the digital divide. In Western countries it has shrunken to a great degree. In developing countries it is still there. It is impirtant to know about it so that we dont exclude, descriminate, or build a wall between us (privileged) and other people (unprivileged). However, being conscious of this issue is the smallest thing one can offer; the divide is economic and it takes tremendous investment and effort to be solved. Oumaima Khayati (wrote this with you in mind; you can find examples of the digital divide in your own surroundungs) For more info, see Wikipedia.
