A dip at the Ghats of Benares and a visit to Old Kashi Vishwantha temple. More cops than devotees. Dirty. Flowers, water, milk, leaves plastic, cow dung, dog shit in the narrow alleys that lead to the temple inner gates. Just managed to get in before close of the Shiva sanctum. Guess cops were in a kind mood to allow a person who didnt look like a regular devotee. Told him.i had a flight to catch. May I break the queue? Courtesy, smile and request sometimes do work. But what a sad sight. So much of India with no other hope of a good life seeking salvation through the only means they know. Prayer and blind worship.
