A disappointing decision from Harmonys Architectural Review Board this evening. The cute little Mennonite house around the corner from me has a buyer. They would like to add on to it, which initially we all thought would be in the back where there is a ton of space. No - they will be adding to to the street side completely changing the curbside look of the building. I am on the board, and I voted HELL NO, but I was the only one. Maybe its because I am the only real Harmonite born and raised here on the board? I dont know. Seems to me if you want to buy, then completely change the appearance of one of the few houses left that is original in the town, perhaps that house isnt for you. Or not... Leaves me wondering what WONT they approve? We had a woman replace a new door several months back, because it wasnt from the right period. But now you can completely alter the front view of an entire historical Mennonite home? I am saddened.
