A ditty for Infy ---------------------------- The darling of IT, a code jockey’s delight Its status iconic, and its campus a sight Lifted by investors and blessed by statesmen - if software was Buddhism, this was Zen. But sad days have befallen the great Infosys It’s profits staggering, fallen on its knees Bangalore’s Taj Mahal, they called it once Now we are told, it’s not going great guns. Maharaja Murthy, founder of the empire Now returns to play the corporate umpire, coach and mentor, elder to boot - and out go a bunch of experienced blue-suits! What gives now? Why is there an exodus? This, sir, is worse than what they told us! Is this deadwood that goes out in the churn? Or a simple matter of boardroom heartburn? Run for long by a family of founders Tis true for decades they were astounders But things must change like it does all around us You can’t rest on laurels when the company flounders It’s nice to see the Return of the Boss But frankly our Infy has no secret sauce Code by hour, sold by the project is a fading art with limited prospect Yesterday’s diamond is today’s stone You’ve gotta change the muscle – flesh and bone, find a new vision, set a new tone or be left behind, sad and alone. Sadly for the King, this is not the same Infy Where lil boys stood to do things in a jiffy A generation or two has changed in the middle What was then an old puzzle, is now a new riddle The new kids are on tablets, gossiping in the cloud Techies who were quiet now happily speak aloud It doesn’t help matters when the geeks miss the fun And must contend with the idea of a rising son! -- N.
