A doting doctor- mothers pain at sons birthday? Dr. Ruby Bansal, a well known wellness protagonist at Pushpanjali Crosslay hospital, is ruing her Rs 1700 that he had to waste on giving her son a party on his birth day a couple of days ago. She would have footed the bill of even 17000 ( seventeen thousand) on this occasion just for asking because she is a doting mother. But paltry 1700 re is still rankling her, not because she is hard up of money these days but because of the eatables that she paid for. Her son insisted for a Pizza Hut party to which she had to yield , albeit completely unwillingly. In her daily dose of wellness advice she administers on visiting mothers she does not fotget to pontificate that they should keep theses harmful eatables at bay from their children, saying they are wreaking havoc on their health. Think of how helpless she must have felt when she herself failed to implement preaching on her own child. She tried to convince her son even in the midst of he digging his teeth blithely on the pizza but of no avail. She told her beta god forbid if you develop any ailment due to such dangerous eating habits, she would not be able to pardon herself. Dr. Ruby rues that while western countries children are coming to senses and have started shunning junk food realizing deleterious effect of them on their health, Indian children are increasingly getting drawn to junk food. Something must be done and urgently to extricate our children from the vice like grip of junk food and colas and instil in them the habit of eating lot of fruits on their birth days. Else, all talk of health awareness is a sheer nonsense. AmenRuby Bansal
