A dozen things you might not have noticed at Neighborhood this - TopicsExpress

A dozen things you might not have noticed at Neighborhood this past weekend: 1. I was way more nervous than normal, especially on Saturday night. 2. Tim said he was too. 3. At one point, an air pressure differential cause by the air conditioner blew the doors open and caused a wind tunnel. 4. The chairs on the main floor were borrowed from Simpson University. (We got our new ones in yesterday.) 5. After the final service, both Tim and I thought we ended 8 minutes late, because we still had the old start time in mind. This is a big deal because we really strive to end on time. It took a few minutes to realize we were actually 7 minutes early in ending the service, because of the new start time. Short and sweet. 6. Our opening worship song was A Mighty Fortress is Our God. It is 500 years old. Tim and his team did an amazing job updating it. If you know other churches that might want the music have them hit us up. 7. The lyrics for the songs that you see are being run from a separate room by a person who has to concentrate like crazy (thank you to the brilliant Michelle Vang Sletner). 8. There was a blank sheet inserted in my sermon notes which made me panic, thinking the printer somehow skipped a page. (I usually check each individual page before I preach, but Id forgotten that step.) 9. In the Classic service, there was a huge glare caused by the base of my cool new pulpit. Whenever I took even on step back, I was temporarily blinded. Each building has the same pulpit, but the lights are different, so I didnt have that problem in the worship center. 10. The kids ministry has an incredible new welcome center, designed to help families find their way. 11. Several hundred volunteers made the weekend happen... its like that every weekend. We love you extra! 12. The Livestream was watched from Croatia, Mexico, Hawaii, Chicago, and other exotic places. :)
