A drink driver lost control of his 4WD and crashed into an unoccupied house at Hawthorn overnight. At about 8.30pm, police were called to the Angas Road property after reports a Landcruiser had crashed through a fence and into the front verandah. The 19-year-old P plate driver left the scene before police arrived however, he was located a short time later at his Westbourne Park address. He was breath tested and provided a reading of 0.156 per cent. The man was reported for drink driving, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated due care. He was issued with an immediate 12 month loss of licence and had his 4WD impounded. Damage to the house is estimated at about $30,000. The driver was not injured and no one else was in the 4WD at the time. The man will be summonsed to court at a later date.
