A false fire alarm at the Oklahoma Capitol forced a brief evacuation of the building. The alarm went off around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Dozens of state workers and visitors began leaving the building after an automated recording urged them to leave because of possible fire and smoke. No fire or smoke was observed and the alarm was turned off after about 10 minutes. Capitol superintendent Doug Kellogg did not immediately return a telephone call concerning what triggered the alarm. However, Capitol staffers say the alarm was likely set off by dust and smoke kicked up by workers involved in an ongoing renovation project in parts of the building.
