A fan asks- Hi Everyone, I am new to the group - one of my friends suggested I find a support group regarding my 2.4 year old son (he is a twin - and the second child is a girl). I dont know where to begin but I NEED HELP. Some of my concerns are: 1. hates certain textures of food (feeding him is a hard hard event at our household. 2. he has to hold something in one hand (left) at all times. doesnt realize that he has to put it down to use both house for an activity. It either has to be circle, or an oval or his favorite car. 3. he hates putting clothes on, taking them off, changing his diaper and taking showers or baths (but he will do them with a fight most of the time) 4. he has ocd tendencies such as holding something particular, doesnt like his hands dirty or clothes 5. his listening skills are poor. if you call him - there are many times he will not answer you unless i ask him where is mommy .. 6. he has a lisp that makes it hard for us to understand what he wants and he eats his words - the last word is usually the word we understand 7. some of his adaptive skills are lacking - he can take one shoe off but struggles with the other side same thing with the zipper on his jacket. 8. his sleep at nite is absolutely awful. he will sleep from 8pm - 1 or 2am and then wake up for a few hours trying desperately to sleep but cant but the moment he gets into our bed he is out cold. 9. the tantrum can get so out of control that it can last about an hour or so Anyone have any suggestions? I am at my wits end and dont really know what to do. I am having another early intervention center do an eval on my son tomorrow. I think we need more than just group therapy. Which is what we were getting from on place. He is currently in school M-W-F from 8:30 - 4:30. Does very well there .. but when he isnt at school .. just so much stuff goes on. I think part of his therapy should include speech and for the therapist to work with him inside the home with his sister since that is his natural environment. Anyways - I dont want to bore you or get kicked out of the site :) If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please, please send them my way .. THANKS
