A fathers love I wrote this during one of my little "cant sleep just yet" episodes, pass it on, and hopefully everyone can get SOMETHING out of it to make things a little more positive in a vet life, or in a life affected by a vet, which really, would be ALL of us. brass and blood and stars and stripes he wonders where he is tonight his only son has gone to war I hope its all worth fighting for our country was formed on words and faith but greed and power have won the race we have bombs going off in our own streets we have children with bodies at their own feet we have tainted government and corrupt police we’ve broken our rules and tainted our laws what about all those who fought for the cause what about our selfish greedy needs what about all of those who beg and plead what about the reasons it all started what of all those dearly departed who will tell them what all we have wasted who will be honest straight to their faces who will stand up and recall what it meant to us to send our children to defend other children on the bus why must we continue to walk this broken road why did we forget the ones we loved the most how could we ignore the triumphant sounds of our soldiers coming home and kissing our own ground they say silence speaks a thousand words but if you shut your mouth and listen you’ll find it absurd all that courage, all the strength all the time served your heart doesn’t move enough to give what’s deserved there should be tears in your eyes for the prices they paid there should be deep sorrow for the mistakes that were made you should truly feel remorse for the souls that were slain all so our country could have its own name and now look at us, we don’t even know who to thank hilt to the flesh as we twist the shank all of your emotions get shoved in the dark while thousands of soldiers have left their final mark on foreign soil they gave all they had left so you could sit there and unrightfully bereft. get off your ass and thank a vet, because often, what they gave for your freedoms, we can NEVER replace, their friends died next to them, they lost limbs, blood and more so they could come home and get no respect? our country has lost much morale, and its time we stand up and reclaim what it means to be an american.
