A favorite NY holiday moment: Stopped at a diner off Times Square to grab a sandwich on the run to see Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright and Justin Bond at Town Hall. Looked up mid-chew to realize I was completely surrounded by the entire cast of New York Horror Story. Fake Elmo, Sponge Bob, Woody, and one incredibly Despicable Minion were all on break from conning tourists out of cash. I had unknowingly sat right in the middle of them, staring at me with Fd up hair and their heads on the table. I was definitely the only sober one. We ate in awkward silence. The concert was brilliant(Did I mention Renee Fleming and Emilou Harris?). NY can be so bizarre, but Im from New Orleans so drunk people in costumes make me feel at home.
