A fellow colleague from India, was just talking to me yesterday on how she feels Singapore is doing great when it comes to humanity towards pets. How AVA & SPCA takes severe action against pet abusers and how much of involvement we take to nail down ppl who abandon their pets. In India, there are dogs everywhr on every street. And u can barely see a dog no matter whatever the breed is, inside the house. They are mostly tied outside as guard dogs and she was thrilled to see how Singaporeans treat our dogs like babies. Just when SG was at is peak with foreigners in regards to its humanity towards animals, bless HDB to drop the bombshell on dog owners to consider debarking the dogs or use e-collars to curb the dogs barking habits! Did they really think they were being super competent when they suggested this? What kind of suggestion is this? What good is a dog if it doesnt bark? A dog barks just like how a human talks. So they would rather shut a dog up but not the human? A newborn baby cries day & night & I know that because I am a MOM! I also have neighbors with kids that wail in the wee hours of the night, causing me my sleep too. But I dont think anyone has suggested De-crying the baby, did they? I do not see notices that say Please bring your baby for a De-crying surgery or please put the baby on a e-collar. Dogs are meant to bark, for Gods sake! If that gets excessive, yes ok, the obedience training part is totally fine. As much as we know they are not cheap, they are not as hazardous nor cruel like debarking or e-collars & obedience training can be certainly considered. Wonder how some humans think the only noisiest thing around them are the barking dogs when there are several other noise factors to be taken note of. I am certainly saying a BIG NO TO DEBARKING & E-COLLARS!!
