A female post election violence victim who was raped, infected - TopicsExpress

A female post election violence victim who was raped, infected with HIV/AIDS and husband and children killed in the 2007 violence committed suicide after hearing reports that the jubilee government had successfully passed a motion in parliament severing links with the International Criminal Court. The woman, identified as Nancy Kaveve, was found dead in her room at a facility she had been putting up in with a note allegedly addressed to the two suspects, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto telling them to ‘enjoy life with their families’ because they (Uhuru and Ruto) seem determined to avoid justice at the Hague. While more information on this incident seemed to have been “censored” by the government, Nancy is an example of the desperation many post poll victims are undergoing with constant political posturing and talk of “reconciliation and healing” as opposed to people with responsibility facing the law. The Jubilee Alliance late yesterday evening passed a motion to withdraw cooperation with the ICC, meaning Uhuru and Ruto who carry the highest responsibility for the post poll crimes may not face the law, a precedent that allows future political warlords to kill, rape, maim and destroy families and livelihoods and go scoot free. Uhuru is accused of the rape and heinous murders which took place in Naivasha where Nancy lived before the murder gangs came for her family, killing her husband and children and raping her till her womanhood was deformed. Before she died, she had been undergoing reconstructive surgery to remake her private organs.
