A few Ruby Gloom-related things I must express, if you all would indulge me for a bit. Ruby Gloom and her friends are so magical. Not literally, mind you (though I imagine there is probably some mysterious force at work in some respects); I mean, almost no matter how bad Im feeling, an adventure or two... or three.... or five... with them nigh-always helps me feel better. I want to voice something to you all though. Am I the only one here who thinks Misery is *not* Rubys opposite? Theyre certainly very different, but Misery is not a complete pessimist. She seems to take things in stride- even if she is more sullen than Ruby or Iris, she still is able to see the bright side of things, and help out others. In fact, Misery seems to have found countless remedies, techniques, and other tricks for making it through her harsh circumstances. And she goes on. No suicide; she doesnt spend all of the show in her basement. She partakes in Family Meetings, Socializes, even plays games with the others. Thus I would propose that the description The exact opposite of Ruby Gloom is unfair and inaccurate, and that we consider providing a different description of her for the groups About section. Also, we should probably say there are thirteen friends instead of eleven. After all, even if theyre tied together, Frank and Len are still each their own. Something vaguely similar may be said about Poe and his brothers. One more thing Id like to say: I was thinking about buying some of the Ruby Gloom books in due time. After all, those are, to my knowledge, where the icon truly metamorphosed into a Character; thus, in my opinion, being the real birth of Ruby and her friends. They probably provide insight into the nature of Ruby Gloom, her contemporaries, and their world. Besides, I hear there is a character or two in the books who doesnt appear in the show. On top of that, Id love to see more of Martin Hsus own artwork. He is Rubys father, after all. *ahem* Thank you.
