A few brief observations about the All Star Game. 1. This was a better played game than most of these events. 2. Making this a home field advantage for the World Series is a joke. In my opinion it should go back to alternating, but would not be opposed to the team with the best record. 3. Many years ago, when the winner was a matter of pride, teams would go with their best or the ones selected by the fans longer. If you are really trying to win the game, why wouldnt one pitch King Felix or Kershaw for two or three innings? 4. Still shocked over Wainwrights comments. The ball was placed perfectly for Jeters swing, but find it hard to believe he set one up for him. Although, why even say something like that in jest? That is like saying, yeh, those guys sure did roid up for the HR Derby. Anything that gives suspicion of wrong doing, even in jest is beneath understanding and not showing a well developed sense of humor. 5. Almost as shocking is the fact that not one Cardinal fan, that I am aware of, has come forward and stated that Wainwright was at least stupid in his comments. I have seen a number of people blaming social media and talking about Wanos great sense of humor, but what a slap at the game and Jeter. 6. Not a fan of Derek Jeter, for a lot of reasons, but his recognition was fitting. The purpose of the game should be to recognize true stars (not who wins or loses). Jeter definitely fits in that category. 7. Therefore, why was there not a moment of silence for Tony Gwynn and/or others who passed away in the last year? This omission leaves me more upset than Wainwrights stupid comment. 8. Mike Trout reminds me, every time I watch him, of a young Mickey Mantle. Those who watched Mantle had a great treat. This generation is getting to see the same thing in Trout. Truly hope he never wears Navy Pinstripes. 9. Glad Pete Rose wasnt invited. 10. Enough about this subject. More concerned about the Orioles trying to beat Samardzija tomorrow. Those who read this, please, forgive me for lying about the brevity of this post.
