A few days ago I asked people to summarize one of my blog posts in their own words. Ive been thinking about the illusion of transparency, and I realized that few observations I might ordinarily make would predictably turn out very differently if I *havent* been understood. So I was trying to gather data on how well I communicate, especially when Im not trying very hard. The results were eye-opening. Most people stated something in the vicinity of the thesis, but I think I only interpreted one person as actually getting my point completely. This calls for further investigation. If you have read *any* of my posts, on Agenty Duck *or* Lesswrong, please tell me which one you have in mind and what you think it was about. Its fine to go read one right now; you dont have to summarize something from months ago from memory. (Its for science.)
