A few days ago I was running errands and I happened upon someone and they asked what I do for a living. Me: I write. Them: You write? What do you write? Me: I write romance books. Them: Youre published? Me: Yes Them: Have you met _____ ______? Shes a local childrens writer. She just published her first (and only) book a few years ago. You should contact her and get some publishing hints from her. Me: (As I pick my jaw up off the floor) Well, Ill publish my 20th book this year, but yes, maybe I should contact her and get some good advice because this publishing industry isnt working for me apparently. LOL I walked away with a smile. Seriously, there are people out there who believe writing romance is a hobby...but writing anything else makes them a true writer. Ive even been asked before, Why dont you write a childrens book because itd be such a great thing to do. I think anyone who writes, whatever genre, is full of awesomeness.
