A few earthquake tips from our Kari Chase McNabb who is a member of our volunteer Search & Rescue Group - And just a reminder - the most important thing you will carry in your kit is a whistle. Put one in your purses, bags and by your bed. It takes very little breath or strength to blow, but could help us find you immediately! Although a Fox40 is our choice, and found at any outdoor store, you can buy whistles at any dollar store. Also, read up or watch YouTube videos on the newest earthquake safety guidelines. DO NOT stand in a doorway as was taught years ago. Find the heaviest object, and lay beside it. Try between your bed and dresser pulling the blanket over you, BESIDE a desk (not under it). Look around the places you spend the most amount of time (bedroom, work, living room) and devise a plan of where to hide, and put a whistle there. embc.gov.bc.ca/em/hazard_preparedness/earthquake_preparedness.html
