A few folks are asking about the Green Party and the badger cull. Im the South West advisor on the badger cull to the Green Party and Im happy to say there is no way the Green Party would continue the badger cull. Natalie Bennett even came out to the Somerset badger cull zone in 2013 and spent all night out on the wounded badger patrol and then met up with others to try out night scopes etc until 3am. She is the only party leader to have done this, and despite inviting the Labour shadow minister for animal welfare to come out to Gloucestershire in 2014, I was told the badger cull was not an animal welfare issue, and that she wouldnt be visiting a badger cull zone! Natalie also has a degree in farm animal pathology, and so understands the issues like few other politicians do. She is also a very good listener, a rare attribute in any politician. She won HUGE respect that night for her willingness to engage in the issues and actually roll up and see for herself not just what this was doing to our wildlife, but also to those rural communities caught up in it.
