A few hardy souls braved gale force winds to stand in front of Walmart to show our support for Walmart workers who have taken to the streets to protest the low wages and benefits they received. If you missed too bad. We got a lot of honks and waves from those passing by on Northwest Expressway to show their support and even a number of honks and waves from people exiting Walmart after apparently shopping there. Whats up with that is anyone guess. We got one thumbs down sign from a driver going by and a middle finger from a man who was exiting Walmart and was either telling us his IQ or perhaps that his middle finger was sore and he held it up for us to see prior to him going to suck on it. We shall not likely ever find out since he zipped off speedily down the street. The waves and honks out numbered our two fine friends with the thumb and finger about 100-1 was we will pray for those guys and hope that their thumb and middle finger gets better soon. The Reverend Dr. Reed from Fairview Baptist Church in OKC lead us in a prayer for Walmart workers and their low wage plight. We all had a good time and except for the wild wind of Oklahoma the weather was very cooperative. We had a police escort for a brief time and all the police personnel who drove by honked and wave as a sign that although they couldnt join us they supported what we were doing. It was another fun day on the same place and ground that we did a similar action 12 years ago this month that got us placed in the Centerfold Section of Time Magazine. Of course it wasnt a Playboy Centerfold type of picture but hey Time has a pretty good circulation and it was a two page spread after all. We were visited by at least 3 Local TV Stations, the Demo Okie and the Red Dirt Report. If you missed it too bad for you. As always we may have been small in number but we stepped up hit our mark and told the truth. Thats what James Cagney always said to do. Bob Bearden
