A few items of note on this Monday. With the Field of Dreams Movie Site entering its last two months of operation for the 2014 season (November 30 is the final day), local Dyersville area farmers are gearing up now to begin their efforts as part of the annual harvest season. Last year in September, Mystique Casino in Dubuque, partnered with the Movie Site, held the successful Team of Dreams charity baseball event at the Dyersville landmark to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. While there had been talk at the end of that popular event about holding another similarly themed all-star baseball game at the Field of Dreams Movie Site, this year did not see a follow-up date for Year Two of the beneficial celebrity game. No word on any future dates for a second Team of Dreams at this time. And finally, last Monday, August 15 saw yet one more in a series of podium non-appearances at the Dyersville City Council meeting by All-Star Ballpark Heaven developer Denise Stillman. While momentum of the travel ball sports complex is, in my opinion, dead in the water now, Ms. Stilllman continued to perpetuate this PR void by being a no-show at the podium once again to let Mayor Haas and city council members know whats happening with her developments plans, if any.
