A few months ago 5 Democrats secretly put a sales tax increase on the ballot. The sales tax increase (if passed) cant be restricted however the 5 Democrats promised they would spend the money on CMS, CPCC and the Arts (and libraries). It is a promise they cant guarantee but it was enough to entice groups who will receive a windfall to try and get it passed at the ballot box. Below are the latest campaign finance reports for together4meck (a newly formed referendum PAC). The only contribution is from the ASC, an arts group that already receives significant taxpayer dollars. So, it naturally raises a question about whether a quasi -government organization like the ASC could finance a direct campaign. Where did the $2,500 come from? Did its use mean government money has to be used to fill the void? What is the ASC advocacy fund and who put money into it? Democrats are always carping about citizens united so here is a question - who is ponying up the $2,500 - where did the dough come from originally?
