A few months ago I received a call from a woman who had adopted a Silky Terrier from a person who didnt want him anymore. Apparently it was either his second or third home at that point before the woman adopted him. She called me because she thought he could use some training, but my diagnosis was that he either had a medical problem or was suffering from separation anxiety. I suggested that she take him to see a vet to determine what the issue was as the dog was peeing all over her house and was destructive when left alone. The poor woman was at her wits end and I spoke to her several times over the phone, assuring her that I wanted no payment, I just wanted to help her and her dog. I received this heartwarming letter from her today, it literally had me in tears I was so happy for the both of them. Its times like this that I really love being a dog trainer! Please read on: DOLLAR the rescue Silky Terrier Dear Judy, Hi this is Leslie again who had rescued a Silky back in May who was peeing every time I left the house? You were so kind to speak to me on the phone on several occasions and offer advice and be so kind and supportive. I just thought I would give you an update...and a happy one it is! I took him to the vet as suggested to see if it wasnt a medical condition...it wasnt thank heavens. The vet said he was just super strung out and definitely needed some kind of puppy prozac...so we started on a half dose and week later bumped him up to a full dose...and miracle of miracles it instantly cured him of his separation anxiety! We were even able to take him on vacation with us upstate where there was a cottage with a fenced in yard and leave him alone for long stretches...indoors and out...and no damage or crazy behavior! He is now a dream dog and no longer has accidents. We love him more than anything and couldnt imagine our lives without him! Thank you SO much for you kindness and support while we were going through our initial stages. Please feel free to use me as a character reference for your business even though I live in Nassau I would be happy to recommend folks to you in Suffolk. With love and furry feet, Leslie C.
