A few months ago I was challenged to run a 5k as fast as I could. Me, being me, took the challenge of course. I wasnt super excited for it, but I did it. Im not one to turn down a challenge. So I ran the race, and I ran well. I loved running it was the best de-stressor I had ever found. After that race, everything changed in running or me, it was a chore, a task, another run meant another time to beat. My de-stressor had become a stressor. So I stopped running. Then life got busy and I didnt have time to run even if I wanted to. I wasnt allowed to run for awhile even. I tried to run a few times but just wasnt in it. So for 10 months there was nearly no running. Well life has slowed down a little so much has happened in that time and yesterday I got the go ahead to run again! When I did it was like I had never stopped except its a little slower! Like the race had never happened. My feet hit the pavement in stride, my breathing matched, and the weight of the world seemed to fall off of my shoulders. My de-stressor was back! The point is this. Do the things you love to do because you love them. Not because someone pushes you to them. When what you love becomes more work than not, it loses its passion. So when it does take a moment to step back and reflect on why you love it in the first place. Re-evaluate and re-focus. Remembering the joy in the little things can help the big things seem not as bad.
