A few months back, nearly a year now I expect, I posted a story - TopicsExpress

A few months back, nearly a year now I expect, I posted a story about my friend Jim - some of you may recall it, as he was the one that had survived four cancers and I was marvelling over his attitude to life. Do you remember? I may try and dig it out, if I can locate it, just to share it again for those that might be interested. Anyway, there were hundreds of lovely, supportive comments for him on the post, so what I did was copy the entire thing, along with the comments from you all, and turned it into a PDF for him to read and keep. I sent it on and put it out of my mind. Some months later he rang me to specifically thank me for the story, and for sending on the beautiful comments, some of which hed read, but certainly not all. He wanted to apologise because when I had sent it through, he hadnt been in the right place to receive it. He felt a number of things - 1. he didnt deserve the respect or admiration we expressed, 2. he wasnt yet ready to be taken back to that time, the emotions and feelings coming back as he read the words; and 3. he just felt SO overwhelmed by the outpouring of sentiment given so freely by you all - strangers he had never met but all sending him such beautiful energy, that he truly felt he didnt deserve. And he is the type of man to understand and receive that energy in the spirit it is given (excuse the pun) normally. He just simply wasnt ready, but he DID want to say thank you. He said hed let me know when he HAD read it properly, when he WAS ready ... Yesterday afternoon he rang again - this time to say hed finally dug it out, read it all, including ALL the comments and had been blown away by it all, all over again. He expressly wanted me to thank all of you that commented and sent him well wishes for doing so and to let you know it has helped that last little healing process for him. Hes keeping well, has enjoyed an overseas trip recently and is still the jolly man I know and love so well. Just wanted to share that with you this morning - you never know how your kind words can affect someone, even a complete stranger. Thank you xx from Lindel (and Jim)
