A few observations on Mr. Modis first month in office.1) Maybe - TopicsExpress

A few observations on Mr. Modis first month in office.1) Maybe people got used to his positive messages during the election stump that they expect to keep on hearing his plans of aache din aane wale hain. His largely staying silent and disconnect with the Indian masses over the past thirty days has been disconcerting to say the least. His Vikramaditya trip was fine; is there another trip required to witness ISROs launch on June 29th? I dont think so...it will take him a FULL one day away from Delhi. And precisely for what purpose? Photo-ops? What can he not do for ISRO from New Delhi that he has to travel to TN for a complete day other than to witness the launch? 2) 30 days WITHOUT announcing a major national policy does not inspire confidence. A few no-brainer policies could have been announced and the process of implementation already begun. The 100 days suspense is a killer. Thirty precious days have been lost. When India needs a REVOLUTION, mere tinkering with house-cleaning is not good enough. 3) PR photos (Modi feeding mithai to PMO kith is fine, but it is just PR. Ye dil mange moore! 4) Address the price rise on Railways, Oil, Diesel, Milk, which has gone up...address it DIRECTLY fair and square with the Indian people, not through minions.Massive drought conditions are on the way when belt-tightening will be required of all Indians. Prepare Indians for what is coming. Treat it like a WAR. 5) Violence on women, Pakistans LOC cross-border violence, Delhi University mess, rail accidents continue unabated. ADDRESS THEM. Mr. Modi raised the pitch, now he has no choice but to address these issues directly with the Indian people. At the moment, he is NOT seen as a person who is doing so If sacrifices are required, he MUST prepare the Indian people for what is coming...and for how long? 6) Mr. Modi has riled up the Indian babus and they will do everything possible to sabotage him. That should have been EXPECTED. Mr. Modi, as I had suggested earlier, should have, within one week in office, made an example of a very senior babu/politician on charges of corruption etc. and SHAKEN the IPS/IFS and other bureaucrats to the core. Indian bureaucrats are the vilest, meanest, rapacious self-serving bunch ever. They cannot be sweet-talked into changing their behavior. As I have said earlier, India needed a REVOLUTION; too bad Modi won an ELECTION where he has to work WITHIN the system. 30 of the 100 days are over. The remaining 70 days SILENCE is going to be a killer. The budget is due July 10th. Let us wait until then. But given the rail hike fiasco, Mr. Modi must CONNECT with the Indian people immediately. A weekly ADDRESS TO THE NATION is what Mr. Modi should start doing immediately. India First.
