A few of my Bible Highlights for this week: Deuteronomy - TopicsExpress

A few of my Bible Highlights for this week: Deuteronomy 24:1-4: The Mosaic divorce concession did not make it easy for an Israelite husband to divorce his wife. That is why he had to follow its regulations to the letter. He had to consult with those in authority and convince them that he met regulatory requirements. Once he divorced his wife she was free to remarry because he had met those regulations to divorce her. BUT, Jehovah, in his infinite wisdom, made certain that there was nothing shady going on between the woman and her first husband, like him trying to help her out of the second marriage. Jehovah sees the inclination of human hearts. Some might think theyre slick and try to circumvent Gods laws, but unlike mans judicial system there are no legal loopholes in Gods laws. So let it be written. So let it be done. (hehe..Pharoah said that) Deuteronomy 25:1-4: Regarding Deuteronomy 25 verses one through four consideration even for the wrongdoer that was to be given strokes was indicated by the Law that limited the strokes to 40. Regarding Deuteronomy 25:11, 12 well, thats pretty self-explanatory. That mans wife aint had no business getting in the middle of a fight between her husband and another man!! Even if her husband was getting whupd she should have kept her hands to herself. But nooooo, she had to aim below the belt. Pun intended. (I kinda figure her husband WAS getting whupd real bad, yall.) Regardless, she knew what the Law said. Remember the main emphasis of the book of Deuteronomy is on knowledge, teaching and instruction. The words teach, teaching, and taught occur much more often in Deuteronomy than in Exodus, Leviticus or Numbers. So, she knew the penalty would be amputation of her hand. Im sure she wished she had listened every time she looked down at that one hand. You should not feel sorry. Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy!! Lawd, hammercy!
