A few of you have asked about D/2, which is what I use to clean the stones in the Somerset Cemetery. Here is one review of the product, although an Internet search would turn up several more. I dont make any money off the sale of this product, but I do highly recommend it. While this specific article suggests spraying the solution on and then scrubbing the stone, I use the even less invasive method (and less elbow grease method) of spraying it on, and leaving it alone. The solution will clean the stone gradually over time, and the results are remarkable. The product isnt cheap, but if you do a little research online, you might find a good deal. I buy 5-gallon jugs because of the large quantity of headstones I have to clean, but if youre simply looking for a good cleaning solution to use on your own familys headstones, a gallon jug should last you a long while, especially since you should only need to spray each stone one time over a span of several years. Just a reminder: Cleaning headstones with any product containing bleach or any other harsh chemicals is not recommended. Most experts even discourage the use of products as mild as Windex.
