A few people have asked me why I have decided to use crowdfunding - TopicsExpress

A few people have asked me why I have decided to use crowdfunding as a fundraiser for my press. I personally think it is a great question and I cant believe I didnt answer it from the get-go! While I do have a private investor lined up, a small bank loan, and personal savings, there are still some areas that I could use some help in. Since I will be working with the community, I feel that this fundraiser is not only a way to bring awareness to the community but to also interest in the press. While it isnt for everyone, I believe crowd-funding can be very helpful to small, new businesses. I know some people are thinking, people who use crow-funding are just asking for handouts. In a sense, youre correct; I am asking individuals to donate money, (if they compelled to do so), in order to make this store a reality. In another sense, these handouts, or donations, are going to be going back to the community. Once the shop is up and running in a physical location, folks in Morgantown will have the opportunity to publish their writing and print their artwork locally. Not to mention, having a physical storefront will allow for more activities such as poetry slams/readings, monthly book clubs, and other projects with local businesses. I completely understand that not everyone is comfortable with donating to a small, online business thats looking to expand. However, there are other ways you can help not only my business, both other independent business: Purchase their goods from their online shops, share their links on social media, or simply by word of mouth! I cannot express how grateful I am to everyone that has helped me with this ongoing project. You all, whether youre local or out of state, have been nothing but supportive towards me, and I thank you for that. Much love and happiness, Ashton P.S. Keep it local (:
