A few posts around Facebook remind me that the poisonous nationalism and chauvinism of the Israelis isnt that different from American bigotry. Ive seen a few posts by delusional American bigots who seem to think that the immigrants who come to this country today searching for a better life are radically different from their own ragged, illiterate and dirt poor ancestors. If anyone embodies the spirit of America today, its not the welfare slugs at Walmart or the lazy kids who grew up playing video games and doing meth in America. Its the brave men who give up everything, risk arrest, and cross the border in order to work their asses off here for very little money THOSE are the men who represent the spirit of rugged individualism this country was founded upon, and Id trade one good men like that for a thousand flag-waving bigots any day.
