A few shots of the day: Firstly, could anyone identify this colourful wrasse?? Although the Tawny Nurse Shark (Nebrius ferrugineus) has strong jaws and sharp teeth, its docile nature meant I was able to get this excellent shot of the second individual spotted on Vavvarus reefs. A nocturnal species usually found resting during the day in large groups, this one was seen sheltering in a hollow Porites colony on the back reef. Finally, this rare Porcupine Ray (Urogymnus asperrimus) was happily feeding on benthic invertebrates, sifting through the sand and coral rubble, allowing clouds of sand to exit through its spiracles behind its eyes.
