A few standout fall trends for GIRLS/WOMEN 2013 Pantone is the - TopicsExpress

A few standout fall trends for GIRLS/WOMEN 2013 Pantone is the foremost authority in color. This year the color is Emerald Green. I’m also seeing tones of green as well, along with a variety of other colors such as teal, grey, pink, black, purple, and winter white. Keep in mind every trend is not for everybody, however each season designers and fashion editors showcase multiple trends so chances are you will find at least one that fits your style. One of the standout trends of the season is to wear your dresses (and skirts) with ankle boots. I’ve spotted numerous fashionista’s and celebrities rocking this trend throughout the spring and summer, however it will pick up steam for fall. If you don’t like the ankle boot, I’m also seeing the high shaft boot with dresses as well. Chic sweatshirts will also be a major trend. (What makes sweatshirts chic this season; the style along with the treatment or decorative detail.) Don’t just think laid-back days with this trend. Some of the sweatshirts look great layered with a button up shirt underneath and can easily be partnered with a crop pant, or pencil skirt for the office. Vegan leather and leather pants or skirts are also extremely popular this year. There are a variety of styles to choose from, including the track pant silhouette. My advice is to select the shape that is most flattering to your figure. Prints are a mainstay in fashion and mixing them up continues to be in the spotlight. If you don’t feel very confident about mixing prints, you’ll find quite a few silhouettes where the work has already been done for you. My general guideline to achieve the mixed print look is to pull out one of the least obvious colors in the opposing item and to make sure one of the scales of print is smaller than the other. Mixing stripes and floral prints are my favorite, however for fall, I’m seeing the mix of plaids with floral prints as well. Denim is the backbone of most casual wardrobes and it continues to dominate in the fashion community. The denim shirt is out there in a variety of washes and it has become the new wardrobe essential, almost replacing the white button shirt. If you haven’t been doing it already, consider wearing the denim shirt with polished pieces, like a pencil skirt or A-line skirt. I’m also seeing a continuation of denim on denim. Grunge is back, however this year it seems to be more refined than in previous years. If you like this trend, one of the easiest ways to achieve the look is by wearing a plaid button up shirt layered under a jacket, or over your favorite dress. You can also simply tie the tartan plaid shirt around your waist if that works for you. Camouflage and army green are showing no signs of slowing down. Animal print is a classic, and it’s out in full force in everything from apparel to accessories and shoes. Houndstooth prints are also taking center stage this year. I’m seeing it on sweaters, dresses, jackets, skirts, tops, scarves and even headbands. Chiffon fabrics were popular for summer and they aren’t going anywhere. I’m noticing how designers and manufacturers are master mixing them with other fabrics, I like the juxtaposition of gentle and strong fabrics together. Boy meets girl is one of my personal favorite trends. I love the tuxedo style jackets, oxford shoes, along with the borrowed from the boy’s prints, vests and ties. Keep in mind accessories are a great way to incorporate the look of the moment into your current wardrobe.
