A few words about proper breathing in boxing in fighting you want to move fast, you must breathe fast. You Want to slow down the number of times you breathe in a period. Slower, calmer, deeper breathing means you will have more energy, be more aware, and hit with relaxed sharp punches. You must learn to inhale and exhale from your nose. This called “nose breathing”. nose breathing is very important to have less risk of being hurt to the jaw. A boxer must learn to breath from his nose rather then his mouth. It takes time, This is because the breathing muscles in your body are not yet developed. With regular practice during off-season training, these breathing muscles will develop. One way to get use to use nose breathing is to work the heavy bag and shadow box with your mouth piece on. You must learn to exhale air when you are punching and tight the muscles and your jaw simultaneously. Because you do not want to get caught with counter punch when your body is loose. When you out of range, you can breath regulary like in jogging, but in range when you are fighting, Exhaling air through the nose is much faster and sharper then through the mouth – which means you can move faster if you exhale through the nose and its slows down the number of times you breathe in a period. It also use less energy for breathing and also that you’re probably absorbing the oxygen better since it is a deeper breath. Remember: proper “nose breathing” is important to protect your jaw, to increase your fighting stamina, to help you absorb (in boxing it happened) body punches better, to make you faster. The less effort, the faster and more powerful you will be. Bruce Lee
