A few words about the roasters we use, the ones you see in each of our coffeehouses, designed and built by Martins brother Steve, along with brother Carl Jr. and the team at the Diedrich Manufacturing plant in Sand Point, Idaho. Thirty years ago Steve built his first Diedrich roaster, taking the inspiration from their father Carl, and from that time to now, his technology is unmatched. Using a unique heating system with an infra-red burner, his roasters are extremely energy efficient, exceeding EPA and AQMD standards. Though others make many claims, Diedrich roasters are the most energy efficient and low emission coffee roasting machines in the world today. A pollution control system, or catalytic oxidizer, is attached to the roaster, utilizing low NOX burners that exceed the newest and most stringent AQMD (Air Quality Management District) standards, which is the agency that monitors all of the L.A. basins air quality. So we thought you might enjoy knowing that those beautiful red machines in our coffeehouses with the Kean Coffee logos on them not only look cool, but they are unmatched state-of-the-art roasters!
