A few words on the guys who successfully passed their Dan grading - TopicsExpress

A few words on the guys who successfully passed their Dan grading on Sunday. Firstly, Sensei Kieron Greenwood became the Fusions youngest ever Black Belt at just 12 years of age. Hardly a session goes by without somebody singing his praises. I very much doubt that anyone to see him in action could deny his natural talent and the dedication and hard work he puts in every time he hits steps on the mats. No excetions were made for him, in an attempt to make it easier because hes young or he was the smallest in grading. He performed the same techniques and exercises as all the others taking the exam and probably took harder hits (imagine sparring with an opponent double your size and weight). It was an honour to award him his Black Belt and I will be a proud seeing him train and compete with it on in the future. Also, Sensei Liam Sullivan passed his 2nd Dan. Liam showed and exemplary level of fitness throughout his grading proving that his increased training preparation paid off, along with an improved diet and a reduction in bad habits (not an easy task for a rock star!). As a 2nd Dan, Sensei Liam has been teaching and passing his knowledge to other Fusion students, proving he also has an understanding of the technical application of the sport. To which I might add, with enthusiasm and enjoyment. This being backed up with numerous positive comments from both students and parents alike. Sensei Stephen powered through his grading and convincingly earned his 3rd Dan. Despite suffering a serious health scare just a week beore his assessment, which kept him from training when it mattered the most. His talent and determination proved that this was just a minor set back and mentally it was not going to stop him. Sensei Stephen, like Liam, has also been doing his share of teaching at the Fusion and is becoming more and more proficient at handing out beastings to which he also endures and leads by example. Sensei Zoltan passed all his sections with the exception of his sparring section, heading towards his 2nd Dan. Unfortunately he was forced to stop due to a back injury sustained during his penultimate section. This should be finished once his injury has healed. Zolly passed 1st Dan whilst training at his old club and as a result has needed to alter his style slightly and develop new techniques from our syllabus. Once again I would like to congratulate all the Black Belts, not just on the grading but for your dedication, hard work and loyalty over the years. You are prime examples of what the spirit of Martial Arts is about. Discipline, respect, honour, friendship... Traits that are hard to come by these days. Heres to more years of fun, pain, blood sweat and tears..
