A few years ago I found a document regarding Lim Teck Ghees remaining property in the National Archives. The name, Lim Hong Siang, mentioned in this document, was the grandson of Lim Teck Ghee. The other name, Tan Hoon Chian, (mentioned in bukitbrown/main/?p=9081) was a business partner of LTG. I tried to find more information about the Indenture of Settlement (Vol 258, No 28) from the NLB, NAS, Supreme Court library and archives without any success. The staff at the Supreme Court record section demanded that I showed documentary proof of relationship before they will assist me! Pics of stone carvings of my ancestors tombstones in BB and newspaper extracts from NLB would were not good enough to obtain records such as these (eg probates). Apparently this document (& I suspect a few more) is no longer on the NAS online database. Research can be frustration when you are stonewalled.
