A few years ago I joined a site that had bunches of silly trivia tests, One of the first I remember is, Would Judge Judy yell at you? As I recall, she would have yelled at most everyone, according to that test. That was OK Cupid, and it is where I met most of my friends on here, The silly tests were user written and why I joined, I even wrote a few myself. The feature that kept me there was not the tests, it was the journals. They were the best thing....ever. They broke me out of the shell Id been in for years. I opened up to strangers, as I never had for anyone. Then free OKC got sold and soon, for money gold memberships were offered, standard memberships got fewer and fewer features, ever more ads, it turned into crap, and I left. It was technically a dating site, but that feature never mattered to me, it was the tests and journals. Ive tried to use the notes feature here like the journals there, but so far it hasnt worked out, though I still think it could, if others caught on. Recently I joined a site with trivia quizzes, games and such named Sploofus. The quizzes are user written and some are as much fun as the OKC tests were, though the young members seem to be far to serious and computer, music, and movie centered for this old mans taste. Technology includes things other than computers, kids. There are technologies like the electrical distribution grid, aircraft, automobiles, ships, refrigeration, etc, etc, etc. At any rate, I spent part of the afternoon crafting a very difficult 15 question quiz for Sploofus about the early years of the automobile with an emphasis on the ties between Ford, Cadillac, Dodge, and Lincoln. When I submitted my quiz, I had a surprise. The Sploofus editors will have to review my quiz, it may not be acceptable to them, in which case it will not be used, and there are 88 other quizzes in line to be reviewed in front of mine. I dont expect mine to make it onto Sploofus before the new year, if at all.
